July’s meeting started with a series of short films by Damian Walker of his photographs from the year’s Hanwell Hootie local music festival, accompanied with appropriate soundtracks.
We then had a change of pace with Dorota Boisot’s series of canal side buildings. Angelika Berndt presented a selection of her project working with the community of the Favela Monte Azul in São Paulo. We were transported to the Philippines by Sarah Wilkie’s range of images across cities and landscape. Robin Segulem shared a set of his photography of live concerts he’d taken at various events around London. Sean McDonnell took us on a historic walk around the streets of Warsaw.

Jonny Baker set his own portrait challenge and asked for the group’s thoughts on a set of images he’d made of a friend, in colour and black & white.

We then saw images related to our meeting topics. Arun Misra showed studio work on the themes of Imperfect and Inspired by Music. Dawn to Dusk was represented by a timelapse by Fran Black and two from Sean.

After a packed evening we still had time to share news of current exhibitions.
Jonny recommended the Dennis Morris exhibition at The Photographers’ Gallery.
He had also seen Frankie’s work at the Royal Academy Summer Show which is drawing lots of interest.
Fran is still showing at The Saatchi Gallery too.
Angelika highlighted the range of classic and contemporary work at the Atlas Gallery.
Mel mentioned a show about sound at The Barbican.
The theme for our August meeting is Happiness.
