Our final meeting before the launch of Between Light & Shadow was an opportunity to review the images that members submitted but were not selected, the rejected ones.
It was a really interesting session. It reflected the theme of the show as we discussed the intentions of the photographer and our own interpretations. The differences between them was enlightening.
We also had a round-up of the current status of planning for the exhibition. Mel Meigh presented her designs for the graphic identity including templates for Instagram posts, a flyer for visitors to the show to encourage new members and an invite for our private view. We also discussed publicity planning, timings for hanging the show and the invigilation rota over the two weeks of the show.
A feature of our monthly meetings is for members to share any new work. Gerbrand Alkema had produced an evocative series of grasses, followed by Sarah Wilkie’s perspectives on Budapest and Michael Ostrolenk’s exercise in 70s fashion nostalgia. Robin Segulem also shared a very original set of images he’d created for our show
