We were pleased to see Between Light and Shadow drew lots of visitors to St Mary’s over the course of its run at the BEAT festival. It was the latest exhibition curated and designed for a particular site, like Unlocked at Ealing Police Station and Blondin at Blondin Park. Members of the group hung and also invigilated the show, so it was a great opportunity to discuss our work and listen to reactions from visitors.

Members of the curation team, Frankie McAllister and Sarah Wilkie, with Michael Ostrolenk among the group members hanging the show.
Mel Lestari’s management of our Instagram channel drove lots of engagement. We also promoted the show through local media and on BBC Radio London.
The private view was well attended and the projection of all the group’s submissions gave an extra dimension to the evening – in addition to the soundtrack by Michael Ostrolenk that we were using for the first time and played throughout the run of the show.
Over the two weekends we appreciated the support of Joy French, the vicar of St Mary’s who also integrated the show’s theme and images into her work with the community.
Due to its success – and the work the group put into it – we are now looking for opportunities to exhibit the work again.
