We took the topic of LIGHT : DARK, the title for this year’s LIP annual show,, for our October meeting and there was a mood of reflection running through much of the work shown.
Sarah Wilkie led us through a sequence of arches from locations around the world. Seville was the subject of Carolyn Fallek’s work, avoiding any people in her images to accentuate the timeless architecture. The qualities of light in faith settings was the subject of a set from Richard Baker. Kyun Ngui’s images made with film had a cinematic atmosphere. Fran Black’s collection of images played with subject and setting. A celebration of Christmas at night was a fun sequence of photographs from Damian Walker.

We shared details of upcoming shows we’ve noticed:
Wellcome Photography Prize 2025 until October 18th
PhotoMonth Photography Festival until November 3rd
Lee Miller until February 2026
Boris Mikhailov: Ukrainian Diary until February 2026
ZWO Astronomy Photographer of the Year until August 2026
We also discussed plans for next year and interest in organising an exhibition. To help find locations we decided to collect materials, photographs and promotional materials for the exhibitions we’ve put on. There’s a good list on our Exhibtions page on this blog.
Next month’s meeting will be a portrait session in one of our member’s home studio.
